We developed additional models for electric drive simulations. This includes three phase model of permanent magnet synchronous machine, three phase voltage source inverter and space vector pulse width modulation modulator.
Usually three phase motors are modeled in stationary two phase (ab) system or rotational (dq) frame. Using three phase model the correlation between simulation and real world is straightforward. Developed motor model considerates non-sinusoidal magnetic field distribution and cogging torque phenomena.
The combination of SVPWM modulator with three phase voltage source inverter enables simulating the electric drive as it is realized in real world with microcontroller or DSP. Therefore the effects of limitations like PWM frequency and PWM dead times on electric drive control can be analyzed.
